Fantastic event Saturday at Kanata’s Bark and Fitz as we grabbed some great loveable valentines’ shots, proving that this Friday some lucky dogs will be picking up some pretty fun “mini” love cards to give to their fellow canine companions! All the dogs were super stars playing up for the camera, big thanks to a great colleague, Sandie for assisting for the day and to the Jesse and Amanda of Bark and Fitz! These are just two loveable furry friends from the day! 
Part of Saturday’s sitting fee & the ongoing raffle at Bark and Fitz Kanata will donated to Veterinarians without Borders, A Canadian charitable organization with a mission to work for, and with, communities in need to foster the health of animals, people, and the environments that sustain us. Helping to improve the livelihoods of communities in need throughout the world is what Veterinarians without Borders/ Vétérinaires sans Frontières – Canada (VWB/VSF-Canada) is all about. Established in 2005, VWB/VSF-Canada works with governments, educational institutions, non-governmental organizations, local communities, farmers’ groups, and international agencies, to tackle root-cause issues affecting public health, animal health and ecosystem health in developing communities around the world. Although they are not part of the first responders to the devastating earthquake in Haiti, they are in support of organizations who are on the ground now in that area.
Keep posted for the next itty bitty limited edition mini sessions coming to your favorite coffee and canine spot, WAG this April. Information will be posted in March about this event, you will not want to miss this one! We had a hoot last time!

Was a great howliday folks, thanks to all my clients who are now friends for an incredible 2009! I met some great dawgs over the year. Here is a toast to some of the great cards and images captured in time for holidays, looking forward to the year 201o as the recent decade fades away. I can only imagine what holds for the next 10 when I think of what has changed over the last 1o. I’ve had some fun news about some of my photography, Back in the fall we submitted a photo into an Equine Art competition, EX ARTE EQUINUS III Sponsored by Art Horse Magazine out of the United Sates. 
They had over 1000 individual pieces entered this year in the various media categories and the printed version with our accepted photo above of “Big Bum” will be available for purchase in March of 201o!Kim is going to hit the roof! Kim, the famous talented groomer at Bark and Fitz Kanata is the proud Mama of Big Bum!
We also got the nod that we have our second DWAA award nomination for a Cover of Dogs in Canada! Love these nice little cyber gifts popping up in my email just in time for Christmas! On a different note I want to take the time to discuss something more sad, but can be such a positive experience for an animal owner.
Pet Bereavment Photography ~ At this time of year, it is now common to get more than a few inquiries about photographing an old soul. Every Christmas, families experience the loss of pets due to old age, sickness and it can be devastating. It is important to me as an animal lover and photographer to set time aside for these precious sessions. I know only too well how losing a pet can rock your world.
Having a session with your beloved pet before they pass on is a way for you to memorialize the incredible bond and capture the friendship that will help you through the loss. I urge you to not hesitate and call, email or leave a message during the holidays. Over the next couple of days, I will be checking messages regularly. For those who have just had their sessions, I am thinking of you all.

You have been waiting so patiently, catch a glimpse of who made it into the calendar and watch this episode of Rogers Daytime where Global Pet Foods Kanata owner Karla Briones and myself unveil the sample PAWmates Calendar! Birch Haven Rehabilitation and Rescue is in desperate need of funds to cover the costs of vet bills from recent rescue surgeries. It is also with a very sad heart that I let you know that BHRR lost Jaxson over the weekend. A strong beautiful dog whohad to have his leg removed due to abuse when he came to BHRR in September.
Since the calendar photo session we have lost two wonderful furry souls. Our thoughts are with BHRR and Kim who lost her beautiful Hugo only two days after the photo shoot.
